Lucanus Gynaecology utilises the surgical facilities of several provider hospitals. It is important to note that no person or entity involved with Lucanus Gynaecology has any financial interest in the provider companies operating the hospitals. We therefore have no financial incentive to offer your treatment in any particular hospital.

Aorangi Hospital was previously known as the Mercy Hospital when it was owned and operated by the Catholic Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. Since 2000 the hospital has been taken over by a medical consortium, and the name reverted to Aorangi, which was used prior to the ownership of the Sisters . The hospital is located in Palmerston North at 175 Grey Street.
The hospital has recently been extended and now has four operating theatres with up-to-date theatre entry and recovery facilities. Wards have been upgraded with individual rooms offering hotel facilities of a high standard.
There is a separate wing devoted to outpatient Consulting Suites, where we maintain our Palmerston North consulting facilities. Remember our one phone line for Maureen to take your calls is 0800 600 444, no matter which facility you wish for your consultation.
Dr Al Donoghue has a regular operating room schedule at Aorangi Hospital, with an Operating Room team dedicated to faithful performance of the various and particular operations which are appropriate for the patient.

Patients cared for by this gynaecology surgical team benefit from the frequent and constant participation of each specialist Operating Room Nurse team member assisting Dr Al Donoghue and Dr Annette Turley. This adds to the strength and efficiency of the whole team by constantly improving knowledge and performance skill brought to each procedure.
Our patients at Aorangi Hospital enjoy the services of various specialist anaesthetists, the availability of each doctor depending on the day and time of the operating room list.
Drs Annette Turley FANZCA (currently overseas) and Brian Crichton FANZCA, are both highly qualified and experienced anaesthetists, and are Fellows of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists, the specialist societies responsible for professional regulation and maintenance of professional standards in anaesthesia.
